Tesamorelin

Tesamorelin is a 44-amino-acid peptide studied for its ability to stimulate the body’s own release of growth hormone.

Rather than supplying growth hormone directly, Tesamorelin works by mimicking one of the body’s natural growth hormone signals, called GHRH, Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone. GHRH is one of the signals that tells the pituitary gland to release growth hormone.

Growth hormone is involved in important processes throughout the body, including metabolism, body composition, tissue repair, recovery, and the production of IGF-1, another hormone involved in growth and repair.

TESAMORELIN + VISCERAL FAT RESEARCH

One of the most well-known areas of Tesamorelin research involves visceral abdominal fat.

Visceral fat is the deeper fat stored around the organs inside the abdomen. It is different from the softer fat that sits directly under the skin.

Tesamorelin became especially well known after the pharmaceutical form Egrifta was approved in Canada for reducing excess visceral abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy.

That history is one of the main reasons Tesamorelin continues to receive so much attention in research involving body composition, metabolism, growth hormone signaling, and visceral fat.

TESAMORELIN + IPAMORELIN

Tesamorelin is also commonly researched alongside Ipamorelin.

Tesamorelin works through the GHRH pathway, while Ipamorelin works through a different growth hormone signal called the ghrelin receptor.

This means researchers can study two different pathways that both signal the pituitary gland to release growth hormone.
